Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge Weekend

What an amazing weekend we have just completed in Yorkshire. This ladies bootcamp was a challenge weekend, and this it certainly was, as we were taking part in the Yorkshire 3 Peaks.

All of the ladies arrived on the Friday evening where we headed to the local pub for food and a cheeky drink (the food was amazing!) then we all headed off to get everything ready for the morning and have an early night. The 3 Peaks is a 7am start and is 25 miles, so rest was certainly needed.

The next morning the alarms were set for 5.30am, and it was time to get ready. The venue was a 25 minute drive away from the start of the challenge, but its a perfect venue located in a little village called Malham. Porridge for breakfast, and lots of food packed for the walk, and we were ready to go – our first bootcamp in Yorkshire had started. The weather had give a really nice day, so we didn’t have many layers on to start with, but took plenty with us – in fact the only thing I wore all day was a t shirt as it turned out to be a fantastic day with the sun shining for the majority of the day. On arrival at the start point in Horton-in-ribblesdale we were greeted by our walk leader who went through a few details before we set off on our challenge. None of the group had ever done this walk before, including myself.

The walk was amazing, it took us just over 12 hours including lunch, toilet and snack stops, and we completed the 25 miles! (68k steps, the Fitbits were on overload). We did it as a group and stuck together throughout the experience. 2 of the ladies struggled with injuries so unfortunately couldn’t complete the full challenge, but they still did amazing and were really proud of themselves (support vehicle took them back and they relaxed in the village until we finished). Im not going to lie, some parts of the challenge were pretty tough, especially coming down the mountains which certainly takes it toll on your knees, but we did it, and we motivated and encouraged each other throughout.

We finished and headed back to the venue, where we decided to just head straight to the pub! One meal and one drink and everyone was nearly falling asleep at the table, the day had certainly taken it out of everyone. Shower and sleep it was! The next morning we all woke up after a great sleep and departed, the bootcamp weekend challenge was complete

It was a fantastic achievement, and our first bootcamp weekend in Yorkshire was a huge success.
